Il contributo qui presentato è un’indagine interna ai testi di Agostino come fonti per la definizione dell’immagine musicale. Prende in esame il De Trinitate, il libro XII delle Confessiones e alcuni delle Enarrationes in Psalmos: il pensiero agostiniano ha alimentato secoli di riflessione filosofica e musicale, testimoniata nel saggio dai testi di un autore d’impronta agostiniana quale Maestro Eckhart (1260-1327).
My contribution is a study of St. Augustine’s texts (De Trinitate, Confessiones (Book XII), Enarrationes in Psalmos) as sources of the concept of “musical image”. The texts taken into account constitute a paramount example of the ways in which this concept was thought of and understood in Christian thought. Besides this, they are a model of later thinkings and musical speculations by Christian theologians and philosophers, as it is shown in M. Eckhart’s (1260-1327) works taken into exam.
